Went to Midnight Express and got there after midnight on a Saturday. It was easy to find as it is close to I-65 on Exit 22 about 55 miles south of Nashville. Passed a large truck stop as I approached the place. The parking lot seemed pretty full and I consider Saturday prime time so I was encouraged as I parked and walked in and paid my $5 admittance fee. Inside it was not as packed as I thought it might be- maybe a couple dozen customers. Sat down and watched some mediocre looking dancer on stage.
Was approached by a below average and little blonde right after I took a seat. Gave her the impression that I was not interested (as I was not) in sitting with her or dances and thankfully she moved on. Went to bar after she left and got pitcher of Miller Lite for what I consider a great SC price of only $8 plus a buck tip. Then took my pitcher and took a seat. Soon after was approached by a relatively cute brunette as I started drinking. She was pleasant to talk to and eventually I let her give me a dance. The dance was nice but she was just a little too heavy in the waist for my taste so I let her move on. Again I started drinking and the mediocre blonde who was on stage came my way. After some pleasant conversation I let her give me a dance. Similar to the other dancer and not a bad dance but she had just a little to much gut for my liking. She then had to go back onstage as dancers started leaving and the dancer quantity was quickl...

I stopped here on my way home to Nashville after doing a short sweep through several clubs in Huntsville that day. It had been a long time since I had been to this club on any day other than a weekend, so I wanted to see what it was like. It was less crowded and the customers there were mostly regulars according to the girls I talked to. There were a couple of really hot dancers that night that I would evaluate as 8's and even a 9 which is pretty atypical for this club. Nothing has really changed except dance pricing and dance quality. There is a new manager that seems to be trying to develop this club and make it more profitable, thus the new dance pricing schedule. Individual lap dances are $23 a piece, these are given in a large room with couches near the front door. The booths are now just for 3 for $60 dances, and then there is a "VIP" area that is used for 6 for $100 dance sets. This does bring the cost of dances down. The real downside here is the rules in the dance area have gotten almost as restrictive as Nashville and are not much fun any longer. I have a hypothesis to explain the new dance prices. as the new manager has gotten stricter with dance rules, the number of dances was going way down, so they developed some new pricing to try and get some more dances going. Still missing the heyday of Club Utopia, but I guess the trend is to continue to deteriorate the quality of strip clubs in Tennessee. I can only speculate why the rules are getting more...

Got there about 8pm so still a little early, cover was $5 There were 8 Dancers names on the board by the DJ booth so I got a beer $2 and sat down. The club has concrete floors, and is pretty well lit. There is a stage in the back connected by a long stage to a front stage. The girls danced once in back then moved to the forward stage. There were maybe 6-8 customers in the place. A couple of the prettiest girls were already setting with someone. They danced then sat back with their customer. I tipped the girls except for a couple that I thought should not be dancing, but everyone has different tastes. All of the girls were friendly, though some were a little pushy. the pressure for dances continued to rise as I sat there for about an hour. There were no stunners, the best of the group I saw was a couple of sevens. There might be some better looking girls that arrive much later, but I left at about 11am. I was told that the club does not take off until after midnight. I did get a dance from two girls. The private dance area is pretty well lit and is a series of cubicles with a couple of chairs in each separated by chest high wooden partitions. The cubicles are blocked from view from the floor with a wall that has some cutouts and lattice panels. The dance was pretty low mileage but I am not a regular. Dances were $22 each evidently that includes a cut for management. I do miss the days when it was called Utopia, but they are long gone. If you live in Nashville it is a place yo...

You're familiar with jokes like "how many ---- does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" I've got a variation: how many strippers does it take to dance? OK, when I go to clubs off exit 22, I stop first at Midnight Express because it's had fewer recent reviews here. I walk in, a dancer accosts me immediately and asks my name, but doesn't give me hers until I ask her. Then she asks if I want a dance. I say I'm new there, I'd like to get the lay of the land. She asks if I want a drink. I ask if she's a bartender. I guess she thinks she's being helpful, but its a dark club and I haven't even had time to look around to find where the stage is. Then I try to explain that I'd like a minute to look around before being peppered with questions. The only way I can find the stage is because the poles reflect the light from the bar. Its so dark on that side of the room that I can't even see if there's anyone dancing. Turns out there's not. So I try to slow her down and explain hey, I've never been here before, let me get my bearings. So I look around, and tell her, OK, there's the bar, the stage must be over there, etc. I say it looks like there's no one on the stage. She says no one's dancing because there are only three dancers there.

Hence the bad initial joke. But I'm serious: I've been to plenty of clubs where they might have a pause between song...

Oh, Midnight Express, you are capable of so much more. Okay - $5 cover, soft drink was either $3 or $5. One other customer in the place at around 9:00pm on a Wednesday night. Now, I totally get the diminished motivation to perform when there are only two guys there, but come on - try to rise above it! I stayed for about 20 minutes. There was one petite dancer on stage practicing her pole work. Later she was joined by two more, all just practicing, not performing at all. I was joined momentarily by an overweight dancer who I was not really all that interested in. There were about 3 more dancers back at the bar just talking about whatever.

So like I said, at about 20 minutes of receiving no real attention, I just left - with a couple hundred dollars still in my wallet.

It could have been different. I'll take some responsibility here and acknowledge that I could have gone up to the rail and cheered little petite dancer on, or could have gone to the bar and at least checked out who was back there. But from my point of view, if I wanted to work at trying to get some female attention, I would have just gone to a bar somewhere! I came here so that I could just pick from among the nice ladies making themselves available to me. I'm an introvert, so sue me!

But perhaps a different game plan on the part of the ladies would have had much more success separating me from my cash. If rather than look at it as, "Cr...
